Triangle ReStore staff and supporters gathered yesterday in Old Poole Place, a Habitat Wake neighborhood, to celebrate and dedicate last year’s ReStore Round-Up House.
Homeowners Said and Saadia entered the program at the same time as their daughter, Hasna, and now live two doors apart from one another. Hasna shared her vision to one day raise children close to her parents to foster strong family bonds, and now that vision can be a reality.
Over the last few years, more retailers have been asking shoppers to make donations or round up totals at the register. What’s different about the Habitat ReStore?
When you choose to make a donation at check-out in one of our 10 area ReStores, you're helping to provide the opportunity for a local family to purchase an affordable home right here in the Triangle.
For the past four years, we’ve set an annual goal to raise up to $180,000 to fund a house solely through donations at the register. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve both met and exceeded that goal every single year! Our ReStore Round-Up program has fully funded four Habitat homes and counting.
This past year, we went a step further and used our Round-Up initiative to collect funds to allocate to our sister Habitat affiliates in western North Carolina in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Since 2021, Triangle ReStores has raised $850,000 to build four homes across Wake and Johnston counties.
While the home dedicated yesterday was a result of fundraising efforts in 2023, ReStore teams kicked off building efforts for the 2024 Round-Up House last month in Clayton, NC.
“I think it’s awesome because it gets the community involved in all the counties we serve, and it gets the word out about Habitat and affordable housing,” said ReStore Assistant Manager Kira Barbour.
Although the ReStores are operated by Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, profits are shared with Habitat for Humanity of Orange and Durham counties. This partnership expands reach, allowing us to serve more families and build more homes in surrounding communities.
When you make a donation at the register, you're helping to provide the opportunity for a local family to afford to purchase a home in the Triangle.
