The Clayton ReStore is having its first-ever silent auction! The staff have been collecting interesting paintings, furniture, and antiques to showcase.

Date: Friday, March 1 - Saturday, March 16

The nitty gritty:

  • To bid, first register for a bidder number by filling out a quick form.

  • Once you have your bidder number in hand, bid away! Please be mindful of minimum increases. You can bid as many times as you want and on as many different pieces as you want.

  • When the auction concludes we will contact the winners to please come pay and collect their pieces within four business days.

  • All proceeds benefit Habitat Wake’s mission to build affordable homes in Wake and Johnston counties. We appreciate your support!

 

Item #1: Rodo Padilla sculpture

Rodo Padilla is one of the Mexico’s most recognized artisan-sculptors working in stoneware, high temperature ceramics. Some of his pieces are also made in bronze and are highly valued by collectors. Rodo Padilla is proud to be from Tlaquepaque, in the state of Jalisco, and to have been able to live and work with the ceramic artisans in his father’s workshop.

Item #2: Sascha Brastoff Hand Painted Ceramic Vase

6 Inch Hand Painted Oblong Ceramic Vase

Signed Sascha B with Gold V-4 Painted on bottom of Vase  

This piece was made between 1953-1973. It was made in his studio by a student or Sascha himself. During this time period items made were signed Sascha B. These were signed by his students for his works as well as any item made in the studio.

Sascha Brastoff (1918-1993) was known for his talent and ability in many fields of art, both performing and visual, both fine art and fine craft.

Item #3: Irving Slotchiver Hand Blown Glass Vase

Markings: Irving J Slotchiver engraved on bottom of vase

Irving Slotchiver (1922-2018) was a highly decorated World War 2 infantry officer who had many careers throughout his life. One of which was a renowned art glass maker whom also developed formulas for art glass still in use today.

Item #7: Chiffarobe

Markings: NO 37, CHIFF and ANT stamp on rear of chifferobe.

This piece was made by The Empire Mfg Co. (Rockford, Illinois /1885-1927). It is not affixed with the ROCKFORD label from the  Rockford Furniture Manufacturers Association, but with a high probability we can infer this item was made by the same company as the Empire Mfg Co. dresser we have in this collection. This is a very ornate chifferobe that displays a lot of different period styles of furniture design. The chifferobe shows moderate wear and tear for the age of the item and its inevitable storied history.

Item #8: Mirrored dresser

Markings: ROCKFORD Label inside of drawer. NO 37, Dresser and ANT stamp on the rear of the dresser.

This piece was made by The Empire Mfg Co. (Rockford, Illinois /1885-1927) it is affixed with the ROCKFORD furniture label from the  Rockford Furniture Manufacturers Association. The use of these labels began in 1924 to promote furniture made in Rockford, Illinois. Empire furniture closed its production factory in 1927 which helped to date this item between 1924-1927. This is a very ornate dresser that displays a lot of different period styles of furniture design. The dresser shows moderate wear and tear for the age of the item and its inevitable storied history.

Item #10: Train Depot bench

Markings: Train Tracks carvings on both ends top and bottom. Carved swirl on both ends.

This is a solid oak train depot bench from the early twentieth century. It is missing one of the oak supports but is in overall great shape. There are a few initials carved on the bench but i feel it provides character to the piece. Who has not carved their initials in a wooden item during their life.

Leland International was formed in 1992. They design timeless contemporary furniture for home and office. The Marquette chair was there first offering and is the best selling item in there office furniture line. The Marquette chair is made to resemble LANE furniture chairs from the 1960’s.  Each chair retails for $387.00 per chair.

Item #19: Boleslawic 10" Colander

Established in 1946, Zaklady Ceramiczne "Boleslawiec" is the largest and oldest manufacturer of Polish Pottery. Known as "Zaklady," this manufacturer produces rich looking pottery that is beautifully decorated, dependably high in quality, and very durable. Zaklady products include dinnerware, bake ware, serving dishes, and kitchen accessories. Based on the intricacy of the stamped design, Zaklady patterns range from Traditional to Signature (Unikat). This factory produces approximately two million pieces of pottery per year.
